Discord will make messages in some public servers searchable online
Discord plans to make some public server discussions searchable on the web so people can find useful answers without joining a community.
The change applies to Discoverable Servers, public communities listed in Discord’s directory that have at least 1,000 members.
From November 16, 2026, each of these servers will have a web page, which may include AI-generated summaries of public-channel discussions.
Starting in mid-December, selected messages may appear on those pages and in search results, without usernames or profile pictures.
Server admins can exclude channels or turn off summaries, and members can opt out of having their messages shown.
The change aims to make advice and other community knowledge easier to find, but some users worry that wider visibility could expose conversations beyond their intended audience.
Private servers and direct messages are not included, and Discord says teen users are excluded; the message-sharing option is off by default in several regions, including the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea.

The changes apply to Discoverable Servers, public communities listed in Discord’s Server Discovery feature.
Every Discoverable Server will receive a web page from November 16, 2026, and selected messages may appear on those pages from mid-December.
Server administrators can choose which public channels participate, and members can opt out of having their messages displayed.
The move has raised privacy concerns about exposing conversations to a wider audience and potential use of posts to train AI.
