School buses in Quebec’s Mauricie region use cameras to address misconduct
The Chemin-du-Roy school service centre in Mauricie uses cameras in some school buses to address reported inappropriate behaviour.
The centre runs about 220 buses, and the sources say four are currently equipped with cameras.
The cameras are used when a parent, driver or student reports a concern, rather than as routine monitoring across the fleet.
Officials say recordings help identify students who need intervention and are viewed only by authorised school transport technicians.
Parents are told that discipline may follow, including suspension from bus service.

What people are saying
Other interventions have been made before, but now we want to correctly identify inappropriate behaviour and the students with whom we need to intervene.
When we explain our procedure and the reasons why we do it, we always have the parents’ cooperation.
