DİSİDER backs planned road link from Rize to Diyarbakır
Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said a divided-road route is planned from the Rize section of the Black Sea Coastal Road through Erzurum and Bingöl to Diyarbakır.
DİSİDER representative Akbaş welcomed the announcement, saying the link has long been sought by Diyarbakır’s business community.
The route would connect eastern and southeastern Anatolia and could improve trade between the regions.
Akbaş said lower logistics costs could help businesses compete, attract investors and reach markets in Turkey and abroad.
Diyarbakır has a young population and agricultural, industrial and tourism potential, but Akbaş said it needs stronger links to major transport routes and global trade networks.
DİSİDER wants the Diyarbakır connection included strongly in the planned network and says the city should also be a priority for railway investment.
The statement gives no construction schedule or further details on next steps.
