Neighbor rescues 84-year-old woman from burning house in Ganderkesee

A neighbor rescued an 84-year-old woman from her burning home on Wednesday morning.

The fire started in the roof of a house in Ganderkesee, in Lower Saxony's Oldenburg district.

The neighbor noticed the blaze, brought the woman to safety and called firefighters.

About 80 firefighters responded, and smoke led authorities to warn nearby residents.

Solar panels on the roof made it harder to put out the fire.

The house is uninhabitable, and the cause remains unknown.
