The Lowdown Season 2 Opens With a Missing Prisoner and Family Tensions

Ethan Hawke returns as Lee Raybon in the second season of The Lowdown, set in Tulsa.

Lee is a self-described “truthstorian” whose exposé drove the first season’s story.

At an award ceremony for that work, Lee gives a speech that insults the people around him and leads another reporter to punch him.

Public defender Ginger, played by Betty Gilpin, tells Lee she thinks two men are following her, then says her former client Mekko Dean seems to have gone missing from prison.

Meanwhile, Lee’s estranged father, Lee Sr., played by Tommy Lee Jones, arrives in town and seeks out Lee’s daughter, Francis, adding to existing family friction.

Lee is drawn into a new mystery as tensions grow at home, but the opening episodes do not say what happened to Mekko.
