Former Rams running back Lawrence McCutcheon dies at 76

Former Los Angeles Rams running back Lawrence McCutcheon has died at 76 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, his family and the team said.

He played eight seasons with the Rams from 1972 to 1979 and also played for Denver, Seattle and Buffalo.

McCutcheon was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and rushed for 6,578 yards during his 10-year NFL career.

He is fourth on the Rams’ all-time rushing list, with 6,186 yards for the team.

In 1979, he helped the Rams reach their first Super Bowl, where they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After retiring as a player, he spent 32 years in the Rams’ front office, including work as a scout.

His family asked people wishing to honor him to donate to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.
