Stefan Kraft leaves longtime ski supplier Fischer for Van Deer

Austrian ski jumper Stefan Kraft has ended his long partnership with Fischer, the ski equipment maker.

Kraft announced the split in an emotional Instagram post, thanking the company for being part of his career.

He competed on Fischer skis throughout his World Cup career, winning the overall title three times, three world championship gold medals and Olympic gold.

Kraft will switch to Van Deer skis, a brand co-founded by ski star Marcel Hirscher.

He chose the new equipment after extensive tests over the summer, and Austrian teammate Daniel Tschofenig also uses Van Deer skis.

The change marks a new stage for Kraft after years with Fischer and a supplier linked to many of his biggest achievements.

His results with the new skis will be tested in the next World Cup season.
