Sevastopol builders accused of taking nearly 118 million rubles
Two leaders of Sevastopol firm Domus face fraud charges over money collected from people who wanted individual homes built.
Prosecutors say the alleged scheme ran from March 2023 to October 2024 and involved 28 people losing nearly 118 million rubles.
The clients were promised homes within 120 days, including seven in Sevastopol and 21 in Crimea.
Investigators say the accused rented offices and began some work, but did not intend to complete their commitments.
In individual homebuilding, unlike apartment construction, buyers may pay contractors directly rather than use escrow accounts that hold money until a project is completed.
The case has been sent to a Sevastopol court for consideration, and the accusations have not yet been decided by a judge.
