Three arrested over suspected luxury thefts after fatal Mexico City chase
Mexico City police arrested a man and two women suspected of belonging to a group that stole luxury watches and other items from restaurant diners.
Authorities say the suspects may be linked to at least 17 thefts from November 2023 to October 2026 across the capital.
Police began following a white car on Saturday after control-room operators identified it as possibly connected to the thefts.
The car’s occupants did not stop when officers signalled, and a chase followed in the Venustiano Carranza district.
The fleeing car hit and killed a motorcyclist in the Morelos neighbourhood; paramedics said the woman, about 55, had died at the scene.
The three suspects are to be handed to prosecutors, who will determine their legal status and continue investigating.
