Škoda recalls 1.7 million cars over possible steering failure

Škoda has added about 1.7 million cars to a global recall over a possible steering fault.

The recall affects Kodiaq, Karoq, Octavia and Superb models built between November 2015 and August 2026.

A bolt in the steering assembly can corrode and break, potentially disrupting steering or causing it to fail.

The wider Volkswagen Group recall also covers Volkswagen, Audi and Seat vehicles.

About 370,000 Škoda cars in Germany may be affected, within a total of roughly 1.37 million vehicles there across the four brands.

Owners can get the affected bolt checked and replaced for free at an authorized workshop.

The vehicle identification number, or VIN, is needed to confirm whether a specific car is included.

Some owners may need a second workshop visit if a more corrosion-resistant replacement bolt is not yet available.
