China's emergency equipment industry exceeded 1 trillion yuan in 2025

China's key emergency equipment industries topped 1 trillion yuan in 2025, after growing by more than 10% a year on average over the previous three years.

The sector includes equipment for floods, water supply and firefighting, and a national plan sets a target of 1.4 trillion yuan by 2030.

In Wuhan, flood-response teams have equipment including a modular boat bridge to move people and rescue gear, and a drainage truck that can pump 5,000 cubic metres of water per hour.

Emergency water-treatment vehicles can use natural water sources and produce drinking water for residents when supply systems are damaged.

For fires in tall buildings, a company in Hubei is testing a vertical-spray fire truck, while a tethered firefighting drone can carry up to 240 kilograms and operate at 240 metres.

These tools address limits in high-rise rescue, where conventional fire engines need large areas to set up and can be affected by strong winds.

The plan calls for 10 national emergency equipment industry clusters and 70 specialist industrial parks by 2030, and officials expect growth in high-rise rescue equipment.
