US industry groups urge trade office to challenge South Korea’s digital rules
Five US business and technology groups called on the US Trade Representative to act against proposed rules in South Korea.
The measures would cover platforms, mobile operating systems and delivery services.
The groups include the US Chamber of Commerce and the Association for Competitive Technology.
They say the proposals conflict with a US-South Korea fact sheet announced last year.
The two countries’ leaders said US companies should not face discrimination or unnecessary barriers in digital services laws and policies.
The groups argue the rules could create those barriers, and want the US trade office to take steps to stop them.
