Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor summoned to testify in High Court fraud trial
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been summoned to testify in a High Court fraud trial in England, around 15 December.
The case involves Nebahat İşbilen’s claims against former adviser Selman Turk, who she alleges misled her and used her wealth for his own interests.
İşbilen says she was led to pay £750,000 to Mountbatten-Windsor believing it was for help with a passport.
Turk denies dishonesty and says the payment was a gift intended to build goodwill with the then Duke of York; he has also described another disputed payment as a loan for a Swiss chalet.
Mountbatten-Windsor is not accused of wrongdoing, but he is expected to answer questions about the payments.
The trial is due to begin in mid-November, and his evidence is expected around 15 December, in person or possibly by video.
