Renault launches Duster strong hybrid in India from Rs. 16.99 lakh

Renault has launched the Duster strong hybrid in India, adding a third powertrain to the SUV’s lineup alongside two turbo-petrol options.

Its 1.8-litre petrol engine works with two electric motors and a battery that recharges while driving, so the SUV does not need to be plugged in.

Renault says the system can use electric power for up to 80% of city driving in suitable conditions, but it switches between electric and petrol power rather than offering a long electric-only journey.

The company claims fuel efficiency of 29 km per litre and a total range of up to 1,400 km, though actual results depend on driving conditions.

Prices range from Rs.

16.99 lakh to Rs.

19.49 lakh, and the hybrid competes with the Grand Vitara, Victoris and Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

The launch gives buyers seeking a more fuel-efficient Duster an option without a diesel engine or external charging.
