North Korea fires around a dozen short-range missiles toward East Sea

North Korea fired around a dozen short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea on Thursday, South Korea’s military said.

The missiles were launched from the Wonsan area at about 12:30 p.m.

South Korea is still analyzing their flight distances and other details, so their specifications are not yet clear.

The launch came more than two weeks after North Korea tested missiles on Oct.

12, which it said were aimed at improving a key weapons component.

The launches add to North Korea’s recent missile testing, which is closely watched by South Korea and its partners.

South Korea’s military said it has increased surveillance and is sharing information with the United States and Japan.

It is watching for possible further launches while maintaining its defense posture.
