14-year-old in critical condition after car strikes him near Ghisalba
A car struck a 14-year-old walking home from football practice near Ghisalba, in northern Italy, shortly after 10:30 p.m.
on October 20.
The teenager had finished training with a local football club and was walking along the former state road 498 toward Martinengo.
Heavy rain and poor lighting may have made him difficult for the driver, a 38-year-old man, to see.
The impact threw the boy over a guardrail, and he suffered serious injuries, especially to his head.
He was taken to Bergamo hospital, where he is in intensive care and in life-threatening condition.
The driver stopped and called emergency services, while firefighters and police attended the scene.
Police are investigating the crash, and no further update on the boy’s condition is given.
