Steelers beat Browns 27-6 after Jared Verse's trash talk

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns 27-6 in a regular-season game on Sunday.

Browns defensive end Jared Verse had talked up the matchup, saying Pittsburgh would be his team’s to take and criticizing its offensive line after Cleveland won their Week 4 game.

Verse finished with one tackle and one quarterback hit, and Steelers safety Jaquan Brisker said Verse should have kept quiet.

Steelers running back Jaylen Warren also dismissed the talk, while Verse said he stood by his words.

The game included a penalty after Steelers guard Mason McCormick brought Verse down during a point-after try; McCormick said he was following instructions to stop a leaping player.

The win gave Pittsburgh sole possession of first place in the AFC North, and it was the team’s 23rd straight regular-season home win over Cleveland.

Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward said the team was focused on getting the win before its bye, not on Verse’s comments.
