Iyer says India must improve bowling and fielding after New Zealand T20I loss

India captain Shreyas Iyer said his team’s bowling and fielding need to improve after losing the final T20I to New Zealand.

New Zealand chased India’s target for a seven-wicket win in Hamilton, taking the final match of the five-game series.

India had won the first three matches, but New Zealand took the last two to finish the series 3-2.

Iyer also said India lost batting momentum when two set batters were dismissed in quick succession.

Fielding errors gave New Zealand chances, including a dropped catch of opener Tim Seifert, who went on to score 93.

Iyer called the overseas series a useful learning experience, especially because conditions in New Zealand differed from those in India.

India’s ODI series begins on November 4, according to Iyer.
