Spotify launches paid memberships for podcast fans

Spotify is rolling out paid memberships for podcasts in 34 markets, including the United States.

The feature lets creators charge fans for exclusive perks such as bonus shows, early access or fewer ads.

Creators set the prices and can offer different levels, while listeners can still access any content the show keeps free.

Creators keep 90% of membership revenue, adding another way to earn alongside advertising and other Spotify programs.

To qualify, a show must be hosted on Spotify for Creators or Megaphone and have three published episodes, 100 listeners or viewers, and 100 hours of listening or viewing in the previous 30 days.

Fans can find the option on a show’s Spotify page, and memberships give creators another way to earn directly from fans.
