Shein agrees to pay $100 million to settle US FTC probe

Shein agreed to pay $100 million to settle a US Federal Trade Commission investigation into customer complaints.

The fast-fashion retailer was founded in China and is headquartered in Singapore.

More than 12,000 complaints were filed about purchases from January 2020 to June 2026, according to FTC records.

Customers said some packages marked as delivered never arrived, and that Shein's customer service did not resolve their problems.

The complaints involved purchases worth over $11 million, while the agreed payment is equivalent to 44% of Shein's second-quarter profit.

The settlement comes as Shein faces added pressure from regulators and new fees in the US and Europe.

Shein said it had reached a constructive outcome with the FTC and would share more information soon; the FTC has not commented.
