Reports say Reyes agrees to four-year deal with Nippon-Ham

Franmil Reyes reportedly agreed to a four-year extension with Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, a team in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).

The deal would run through the 2030 season, according to one account.

It is reportedly worth up to $40 million, equivalent to about 6.3 billion yen in one account and 6.4 billion yen in another.

That would make it the biggest contract by total value in NPB history if the deal is finalized.

Reyes, a Dominican player in his third season in Japan, hit .313 and led the league in batting average this season.

He also hit 32 home runs, helping explain why the reported extension has drawn attention.

The accounts do not say when the contract will be formally finalized.
