Nearly half of UK adults say exercise makes it easier to discuss mental health
A survey found that 45% of UK adults were more likely to talk about mental health while exercising.
Walking was the activity most often linked to these conversations.
Some people said talking side by side felt more relaxed and less formal.
This matters because many people find it hard to open up or do not know how to start a conversation.
A survey of 2,000 people in the UK found that 45% of adults are more likely to discuss their mental health while exercising.
The figure was 51% among Gen Z respondents and 60% among Millennials.
Walking was the exercise most often named as encouraging open conversations, at 40%.
Among respondents, 44% preferred talking side by side rather than face-to-face, and 36% said this helped them feel more relaxed.
The survey found that 38% of adults find it difficult to open up in daily life, rising to 49% among Gen Z.
