French startup Gallium Defense raises €7.1 million for drone-detection radar
French startup Gallium Defense raised €7.1 million in seed funding to develop radar for detecting drones.
The Paris-based company is building the GDS-10, a system designed to detect FPV drones up to 10 kilometres away.
FPV drones are small aircraft controlled from the pilot’s point of view, and the company aims to make its radar cheaper than conventional systems.
Gallium Defense plans two versions of the radar, one for protecting critical infrastructure and another for military use.
Its stated target features include tracking drone swarms and operating in all weather, but these are specifications under development, not confirmed results.
The company is developing its first two prototypes, after beginning work on them in June 2026.

How do you meet 80 per cent of the need at 20 per cent of the price?
When you develop every component yourself, you lose time, money and, sometimes, performance.
We were considering doing it alone because we were conscious that it was not a super sexy story
