Merah Putih Cooperative in Jakarta Sells Some Goods Below Retail Prices
Presidential Chief of Staff Listyo Sigit Prabowo said some goods cost less at the Merah Putih cooperative in Cakung Timur, Jakarta.
He made the claim during an inspection on November 2, checking medicine, subsidised cooking gas and other basic goods.
The cooperative sells rice, medicine, cooking oil and 3-kilogram LPG cylinders at prices he said were below those at other local shops.
The cooperative’s medicines are supplied by Kimia Farma and receive support from a pharmacy at the National Defense Central Hospital.
Rules and coordination had delayed the medicine outlet, but officials have now addressed those barriers.
Government agencies agreed on a scheme for distributing and selling medicines at the cooperatives after coordinating with the health minister and the food and drug agency.
