Ben Affleck says AI should support filmmakers, not replace them

Netflix acquired InterPositive, an AI filmmaking company founded by actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck.

The deal was reportedly worth $587 million, though that valuation has not been independently confirmed.

Affleck says he first worried that AI could transform filmmaking, but later saw limits in tools that generate images from prompts.

They can struggle to follow precise instructions, such as how to move a camera.

InterPositive was designed to give filmmakers more control and address concerns about using other artists’ work without their knowledge or agreement.

Netflix now has the company’s filmmaking technology, although no further plans for it are given.

Affleck argues that AI will not replace the human work of making films.
