San Lucas square upgrade in Jerez delayed until hotel work is complete

Jerez Mayor María José García-Pelayo presented plans to renovate San Lucas square to the Tres Caídas brotherhood, which uses the church there.

The €120,000 project would improve the pedestrian route between Jesús de las Tres Caídas Street and the lower part of the square, and adapt access for a future hotel.

The tender will wait until hotel construction ends, so the square work has no start date in the information given.

The brotherhood wants the church steps replaced with a permanent ramp to make access easier for people with disabilities.

The plan also includes a lasting way for religious procession platforms to pass through the church entrance, while a request to open a side door is still being processed.

Separately, a brotherhood building planned for Plaza Belén is delayed by procedures involving the diocese and a new diocesan rule.

The Virgen de Guadalupe statue is being restored; the first phase strengthened its structure, and work on its painted surfaces is due to follow.
