Heineken to end beer production at historic Czech brewery

Heineken will stop brewing beer at its Velké Březno site in the Czech Republic.

The brewery has roots dating to 1606, and beer has been made at its current location since 1753.

Březňák beer will continue to be produced at other Heineken breweries, so the brand is not being discontinued.

The site’s sales and logistics operations will remain in place.

Falling beer consumption and rising energy and raw-material costs are among the pressures behind the production shutdown.

The brewery had already reduced production during 2026, and the remaining parts of the plant will now also close.

The sources do not give a date for when the shutdown will be completed.
