Egypt’s core annual inflation fell to 14.1% in September

Egypt’s central bank said annual core inflation fell to 14.1% in September, from 14.9% in August.

Core inflation leaves out items with highly variable prices, such as food.

Overall annual inflation, which includes all goods, fell to 13.9% from 14.5%, marking a second monthly decline.

But prices rose from August to September, with vegetables up about 15% and food and drinks up 3.2%.

The central bank expects average overall inflation of 15.2% to 17.8% in the 2026–27 financial year, which began in July, compared with about 13.3% in the previous year.

Its forecast depends on possible developments in regional conflict and their effects on prices.
