Cardinals place rookie running back Jeremiyah Love on injured reserve

The Arizona Cardinals placed rookie running back Jeremiyah Love on injured reserve after he suffered a high ankle sprain against the Dallas Cowboys.

Love, the third overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft out of Notre Dame, had already dealt with ankle injuries earlier in the season.

The latest injury happened during Sunday's game, when he left in the first half.

He is expected to miss four to five weeks, and injured reserve means he must miss at least four games before he can return.

In six games, Love has rushed for 268 yards and one touchdown, and he has also made 11 catches for a receiving touchdown.

Tyler Allgeier took over as Arizona's lead running back against Dallas, gaining 191 yards from scrimmage and scoring twice in the Cardinals' overtime win.

Love's absence is another injury setback for Arizona's rookie class, several of whose members are dealing with injuries or will miss the season.
