Lil Jon Says His Young Daughter Helped Him Cope With His Son’s Death
Atlanta producer Lil Jon discussed grief and family on ABC’s Nightline while promoting his memoir, I Only Shout So You Can Hear Me.
His 27-year-old son, Nathan Smith, died in an accidental drowning in February, according to Lil Jon.
He was writing the memoir when his son died, and said the loss brought life-changing events as he worked on the book.
His almost 2-year-old daughter, Nahara, helped him through the pain, he said, describing her love as a source of warmth and comfort.
Lil Jon also spoke about learning that the father who raised him was not his biological father, and the unanswered questions that followed.
The memoir brings together stories shaped by these experiences, he said.
Nightline airs on ABC, and episodes are available to stream the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
