Apple warns iPhone Duo walk-in stock will be limited on launch day

Apple warns iPhone Duo walk-in stock will be limited on launch day

Apple says walk-in stock of the iPhone Duo will be limited when the foldable phone goes on sale on October 23.

The warning follows strong demand since pre-orders opened, and Apple expects store stock to sell out quickly.

In the US and several other countries, customers can try to buy one in person, though supplies will be small.

In France, China, India, Japan and several other markets, walk-in sales will not be available on launch day; customers must reserve a pickup time through Apple's online store.

The store was telling some customers to check back on October 24, so it is unclear when reservations will open.

Apple says limits on in-person sales help manage crowds and discourage scalpers, and it has capped purchases at two phones per person.

For people who did not pre-order, getting a phone on launch day may be difficult, while some existing pre-orders have received earlier shipping estimates.
