Apple may make Siri more proactive as early as 2027

Apple is working on making Siri handle tasks more proactively, with less need for users to direct every step.

The plan involves Apple’s voice assistant and its apps, with support for Apple’s own apps expected to reach the public in December.

Users can already ask Siri what some Apple apps can do and then ask it to perform those tasks in an iOS 27.3 developer beta.

Third-party app support is expected as a preview in spring 2027, possibly in iOS 27.5 or iOS 27.6.

Apple’s longer-term goal is for Siri to manage tasks over time, closer to rival AI services that can continue working without a new instruction at every step.

This matters because Apple is seeking to keep pace with rival AI assistants as they take on more complex tasks.

Apple is also giving engineers six weeks for coding and exploration and two weeks for integration in an early iOS 28 development cycle, instead of two equal four-week periods.
