Commanders Place Jacory Croskey-Merritt on Injured Reserve

The Washington Commanders placed running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt on injured reserve after he reinjured his groin in a Week 5 tie with the New York Giants.

The second-year player first hurt the groin during training camp and missed two preseason games.

As a rookie, the 2025 seventh-round pick led Washington with 873 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns.

Croskey-Merritt’s absence leaves a gap in the backfield, where Rachaad White is expected to take on more work and Austin Ekeler has also played this season.

Washington activated Jeremy McNichols from injured reserve to add another running back; he had been sidelined by a quad injury before the season.

The team also activated cornerback Trey Amos and linebacker Jordan Magee, while linebacker Javontae Jean-Baptiste went on injured reserve with a pectoral injury that will keep him out for at least four games.

The Commanders also released linebacker Austin Keys and promoted linebacker T.J. Maguranyanga from the practice squad.
