Rescue dog Peggy-Sue loses 9kg and finds a home in Somerset
Bulldog Peggy-Sue arrived at an RSPCA centre in Somerset in July 2025 weighing 32.5kg.
Her weight made it hard to walk, and she was at risk of overheating and infection.
After she was rehomed through the RSPCA’s Adoptober scheme, her foster carer gradually increased her exercise and followed a strict diet plan with her.
Peggy-Sue has lost 9kg and now weighs 23.5kg.
She has since been adopted by Emmie and Andy, a couple from Taunton, and now enjoys walks, car trips and water.
The RSPCA says obesity can affect many types of pets, and that weight gain can have several causes, including diet, age, breed and some health conditions.

What people are saying
It was awful to see her struggle with everyday movement and we had to carry her in a crate from the van to her kennel.
When she first came home she only showed small bursts of energy - but little by little she has built up her strength and now she is utterly amazing and loves her walks and trips in the car.
