Indonesia warns workers of scams linked to wage subsidy payments

Indonesia’s labor ministry is warning workers about scams that pretend to offer the government’s Wage Subsidy Assistance, known as BSU.

The fake messages often arrive through WhatsApp or direct messages and may ask for personal details, including national ID numbers.

The ministry says to check BSU information only through its official channels and the website bsu.kemnaker.go.id.

If that website is unavailable, workers should wait for an official announcement instead of using unverified links.

Workers should never share ID details, passwords, PINs or one-time codes with unverified people or websites.

BSU is free, and there is no fee to receive it; a ministry logo on a message or website does not prove it is genuine.

Anyone who opens a suspicious link should close it and verify the information through the ministry’s official channels.
