Turkey sets rules for claiming unclaimed investment assets
Turkey’s Capital Markets Board has set rules for returning unclaimed investment assets transferred after claims became time-barred.
The assets are held by the Investor Compensation Center or in accounts at Takasbank for investors.
The rules cover cases where people cannot apply through the e-Devlet online system, and eligible applicants include heirs, joint account holders and legal representatives.
Applicants must send a completed, signed form and documents that depend on their circumstances; missing or incorrect information must be corrected within 30 days or the application may be closed.
Cash will be returned with the applicable interest, while investment securities will be returned in kind, subject to the stated conditions.
The rules take effect when refund applications open through e-Devlet, and the center will announce the start date on its website.
