AFA suspends Verón and two Estudiantes officials for three months
AFA suspended three Estudiantes officials for three months after incidents at the end of a football final.
Estudiantes president Juan Sebastián Verón, vice-president Pascual Caiella and sporting director Marcos Angeleri were sanctioned by Argentina’s football disciplinary tribunal.
The incidents followed Rosario Central’s 3-1 win over Estudiantes in the Trofeo de Campeones at Santiago del Estero’s Madre de Ciudades stadium.
The tribunal said the three officials entered the field without permission and behaved improperly toward the referee or became involved in the incidents.
The suspensions bar them from representing Estudiantes at AFA events, including official ceremonies and meetings, but Verón can continue leading the club.
Estudiantes was also fined 500 v.e.
Verón will therefore remain in his club role, while he and the other officials cannot represent Estudiantes at AFA events for three months.
