FAPE commission says Carmen Porter breached journalism code over Tangier remarks
A Spanish journalism ethics commission found Carmen Porter breached its code over remarks she made on the TV programme Horizonte.
Porter said on Cuatro on 3 September 2026 that people in Tangier, Morocco, put bottles of urine outside their homes as part of local customs.
The commission said she failed to verify the claim and breached rules on truth and checking sources.
The person who complained said the bottles were used to scare away stray cats and dogs.
The commission did not find a breach of dignity or the duty to correct, limiting its ruling to the accuracy and sourcing of the remarks.
The decision criticises the statements but identifies no further action.
