Hunter, 75, seriously injured by gunshot in Dordogne hunting hide
A 75-year-old hunter was seriously injured by a gunshot on Wednesday in Antonne-et-Trigonant, in France’s Dordogne region.
He was in a raised hide used for hunting palombe, a type of pigeon, about 20 metres above the ground.
A shotgun pellet hit his arm shortly before 2 p.m.
Another person was with him, but investigators do not yet know where the shot came from.
Firefighters trained for high-angle rescues lowered him from the hide, and he was taken to hospital in Périgueux.
An investigation has been opened to establish how the shooting happened, and the French biodiversity agency visited the scene.
The investigation is expected to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
