Putin places more JTI Russian assets under temporary management

President Vladimir Putin placed three more JTI-owned Russian businesses under temporary management in Russia.

The decree transfers all shares in Pereslavl-Tobacco and all ownership stakes in J.T.I. Innovative Products and J.T.I. Russia to Industrial Assets.

The move follows a decree transferring four other JTI companies on November 5, including tobacco factories and businesses that process tobacco.

JTI is part of Japan Tobacco Group and sells brands including Winston, Camel, Sobranie and LD in Russia.

The decrees shift control of these Russian assets to a temporary manager, but the documents do not identify which Industrial Assets company was appointed.

JTI’s Russian representative said the company was reviewing the situation and considering possible actions.

JTI’s next steps have not been announced.
