Spain’s sports council asks tribunal to review Tebas’s Real Madrid remarks

Spain’s sports council has asked a sports tribunal to review Javier Tebas’s remarks about Real Madrid.

Tebas, the president of LaLiga and a vice-president of Spain’s football federation, compared the club’s communication methods to propaganda used by Nazi minister Joseph Goebbels in a post on X on 16 October.

The council wants the tribunal to assess whether the remarks may breach sports law, which treats public acts against the dignity or decorum of sport as serious offences.

The council says sport needs mutual respect among people in important roles.

The tribunal will decide whether there are grounds to find a possible violation; it is independent in its decisions.

Tebas says his comparison concerned propaganda methods, not Nazi ideology or Real Madrid supporters.

Tebas has criticised the council’s action and raised the prospect of suspension, but no outcome has been announced.

Another one. Another request from the CSD to the TAD and, once again, headlines about my possible disqualification. The reasons change; the insistence is the same. We expected it: any excuse would do.
