Motorcyclist dies in collision at Saint-Priest and Vénissieux boundary

A motorcyclist died after a collision with a car on Friday evening, October 16, at a junction on the border of Saint-Priest and Vénissieux, near Lyon.

Emergency crews tried to revive him at the scene, but he was declared dead shortly before 8 p.m.

The motorcycle and a Peugeot 3008 collided where Boulevard de Parilly meets Avenue Charles-de-Gaulle.

The precise circumstances are not yet known, and the results of alcohol and drug tests on those involved had not been reported.

The junction is on a busy road where other serious crashes have happened, including incidents involving pedestrians in 2019 and 2021.

A petition after those earlier crashes called for safety improvements, and investigators are still determining what happened in Friday’s collision.
