Diego Poncelet sets skateboarding speed record at 151.83 km/h
Spanish skateboarder Diego Poncelet set a new speed world record at 151.83 km/h.
The 27-year-old reached that speed on a downhill run in Les Éboulements, Quebec, Canada.
The mark was recognized by Guinness World Records as the fastest achieved by a person standing on a skateboard.
Poncelet is a two-time downhill skateboarding world champion and had prepared for years, working on his fitness, equipment, aerodynamics and weather conditions.
His record surpassed the previous mark of 146.73 km/h, set by Pete Connolly in 2017 on the same Canadian roads.
Poncelet waited five days for suitable wind conditions before making his fastest run.
The achievement pushes the limits of downhill skateboarding, where riders descend roads at extreme speeds.
