Sunny Deol made his streaming debut in Netflix courtroom drama Ikka
Sunny Deol made his streaming debut in Ikka, a courtroom drama released on Netflix.
The film, directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, also stars Akshaye Khanna and features Deol as a lawyer.
Deol has spent more than 40 years starring in theatrical films, often in action roles, so a drama without action was a change for him.
He was initially worried the film had no action, according to Netflix India executive Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh.
She said the team believed a courtroom story could let audiences see a familiar star in a different kind of role.
Ikka reached Netflix’s number one spot in its first few days, showing that Deol’s move to streaming found an audience.
The sources give no further plans for the film or Deol’s next streaming project.
