False bomb threat prompts security response at Gran Canaria Airport

A false bomb threat targeted a Vueling flight travelling from Barcelona to Gran Canaria on Monday night.

The plane landed at Gran Canaria Airport and was moved away from the terminal as a precaution.

Security teams, including bomb disposal units, responded under the airport’s emergency procedures.

Passengers and crew left the plane and were taken to a separate room while the aircraft and luggage were checked.

No explosive was confirmed on board, though the origin of the threat was not known.

The airport said it was operating normally after the response.
