German retailers recall pine nuts and beef salami over bacteria risks
Several food products have been recalled in Germany because they may contain harmful bacteria.
The recalls cover pine nuts sold by dm, Dennree and Alnatura, as well as a 100-gram Alnatura salad seed mix.
The pine nut products may contain salmonella, while a separate recall covers 14 beef salami products made by Peter Faden after tests found Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, or STEC.
The affected products are identified by their best-before dates and, for some Dennree pine nuts, batch numbers.
Customers should not eat the recalled products and can return them to the shops where they were bought.
Salmonella can cause diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and fever, while STEC can cause stomach and intestinal illness, sometimes with bleeding.
Children, older people, pregnant people and those with weakened health may face greater risks, and people with severe or lasting symptoms should seek medical care.
German retailers and a meat company recalled pine nut and beef salami products over possible bacterial contamination.
Pine nuts and a salad seed mix may contain salmonella, while beef salami products may contain Shiga toxin-producing E. coli.
The affected products should not be eaten and can be returned to the respective places of purchase.
The salami recall covers 14 products with best-before dates from October 23 to December 22, 2026.
The articles warn that the bacteria can cause gastrointestinal illness, with some people at greater risk of severe complications.
