Windows 11 preview update adds 41 changes, including recovery improvements
Microsoft has released an optional preview update for Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 26H2.
The update includes 41 changes, with improvements to File Explorer, recovery and gaming features.
Preview updates let users and IT administrators try changes before Microsoft includes them in a wider rollout next month.
One key addition lets Cloud rebuild reinstall Windows using files and drivers from Windows Update, without needing a USB drive or custom image, even if Windows will not start.
The update also makes File Explorer's context menu easier to customize and adds quick system controls to Gaming Task View.
It includes no security patches, and users need to choose to download and install it unless they have automatic installation of the latest updates enabled.
Microsoft says the update is available through Windows Update or the Microsoft Update Catalog, with broader rollout of preview changes expected during next month's Patch Tuesday.
