Leweston School to close after half-term, with pupils offered places elsewhere

Leweston School in Dorset will close after half-term and will not reopen.

The private school near Sherborne has nursery, preparatory, senior and sixth-form sections and was founded in 1891.

Government records list 577 pupils aged two to 19 at the co-educational Catholic boarding school.

Every pupil has been offered a place at another school in the Inspired Learning Group, including Clayesmore School and Sunninghill Prep.

The decision was announced with little notice, and a family member called it “outrageous”; some pupils were preparing university applications.

The alternative places are available from November 2, and families with questions about ILG schools can contact its parent support team.
