Texas Democratic wins revive interest in the film Civil War

The film Civil War went viral after Democrats won key Texas races in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

James Talarico won a US Senate seat and Gina Hinojosa was elected governor, both representing Texas.

Texas has traditionally voted Republican, and this was the first time in decades that it elected a Democrat to the Senate.

In Garland’s near-future thriller, Texas and California join forces against a tyrannical president during a civil war that divides the country.

The election results led viewers to revisit the film’s premise, including why a Republican-leaning Texas would ally with Democratic California.

Garland has said the film gives viewers enough context to infer the reason: the president has violated the Constitution and attacked citizens.

There is a fascist president who violated the Constitution and attacked American citizens. And that is a very clear and direct statement.

I: Civil War was intentionally vague to the point of being ideologically incoherent, to avoid any association with the nonsense of today’s culture war. Alex Garland: I literally predicted California and Texas rebelling against the populist fraud in the White House.
