Incheon plans AI and sensor upgrades to detect disasters by 2029
Incheon plans to expand its disaster warning network by 2029 using artificial intelligence (AI) and internet-connected sensors.
The South Korean city says the system will help detect danger early and support faster responses.
AI cameras will be added in vulnerable areas, including traditional markets and coastal zones, where existing monitoring can leave gaps.
Incheon installed 250 AI cameras this year and plans to add or replace 900 each year for the next three years.
Four coastal sites will get tide-monitoring systems to track water levels and help respond to flooding risk.
Sensors will monitor 27 vulnerable facilities for warning signs such as cracks, including on bridges along Incheon-daero.
The city’s 24-hour disaster safety center will coordinate monitoring and response.
